How to Lift Elderly People Off the Floor

The first thing that you will want to do is get your help in setting up the floor. For some people this is not as difficult as it may seem. Often times if there is a pull out couch that can be used or a step stool that is left in the room.
When you have the bed and the floor set up, the next thing to do is to talk to the person who is going to be doing the lifting. Let them know that you are there for them. It is easy to let them know that you are there for them when you are asking for help.
Elderly people are very strong and sturdy and you are going to have to lift them several times. This does not mean that you should go all out and push them over and try to lift them with one hand. You are going to want to keep yourself well backed up. This will make it much more difficult for you to hurt them.
Another thing that you want to do is to sit them down while they are on the floor. As you sit them down, you want to make sure that you do not have your weight on them. This can be dangerous and they can fall. If you feel that you are pushing them up against the wall you want to take a few steps back.
Once you have gotten them seated on the floor, you are going to want to ask the elderly person how they feel. Sometimes you will feel more comfortable if you speak softly to them. If you have an ear piece, you can turn up the volume so that you can hear their voice. This will make them feel better and they will be more able to talk with you.
Next you want to go around to the other side of the bed or on the opposite side of the bed and lift the person’s upper body off the floor. This is often a harder task than just lifting their legs. The main reason that they are able to get up onto their knees is because of the muscles that they use. If you are going to try and lift them with just your arms, they are going to struggle even more.
You are also going to want to sit back down again after you have lifted the person on the floor, especially if they are already on their hands and knees. It is not easy to get them back up there and even harder to get them on their knees. You are also going to want to make sure that you have one arm between them and the floor.
The last tip for how to lift elderly people off the floor comes with the push up. You are going to need to lift them up off the floor as you are raising them up with a resistance band. This is usually easier than trying to do it the first time.
The first thing that you are going to want to do is sit them down. Then start putting your weight behind them. There is going to be resistance from the band so you do not have to worry about trying to stop yourself from hurting them. The trick here is to be able to place your weight behind them and feel comfortable about doing it.
